TRIZ/ARIZ is shortcut from Russian language and it means theory and algoritmus of inventive problem solving. It is a strong problem-solving and analysis tool derived from the study of patterns of invention in the global patent literature.

It was developed by the Soviet inventor, navy soldier and science-fiction author (this is important) Genrich Altshuller (1926-1998) and his team, beginning in 1946. During studying the patents he found (let’s personalize him as a virtual spokesman) repetition of innovation principles.

The main conclusion is that the all technical contradictions ( in layman’s terms – problems) could be solved by 40 extracted innovation principles.

As a science-fiction author has Mr. Altshuller found that many ideas were predicted in science-fiction. So he has made a register of new ideas (potentially new technical principles) from science-fiction literatur.
